Last Baseball Game and Scrapbook

This past Saturday Hilly and I went to her last baseball game. She was so, so good (as always). She sat down under the seat and immediately fell asleep. She only woke up to drink some water and walk with me to get some fries. She did look up when the mascot "Parker" walked by us. She gave me this look as if she was asking, "Momma, what kind of dog was that?!" I had to tell her that it wasn't a dog but a giant, orange bear. Haha! We left before the end of the game because it was going so, so slow. It was about 9:30 when we left and it was only the top of the 6th.

Our team was also...sucking. That's the kindest way I can put it. Our pitcher got hurt at the top of the 4th and they brought in some new guy who should not be a pitcher. I don't ever pretend to be able to play like those players out there, but I think if I had been paid to do it and had two innings to warm up I would have been pitching better than he was. I wouldn't have been walking two people or so every inning. So, unfortunately, Hilly's last baseball game wasn't the best but I think she had a lot of fun

Pictures for you...Hilly sitting under the seat

Hilly being an awful good girl and not eating the peanut shells

Yes, I was shocked that she smiled for the camera too

Hilly is still smiling for the camera under her seat.

Hilly laying up against the seat in front of her. Yes, I am the raiser of a nut.

The last picture I have for you is the first page of Hilly's scrapbook. For those of you who don't know, I always do an old fashioned scrapbook for my pups.

Page 1: A turquoise page with a small soft yellow border a little in from the top and bottom. There are four pictures of Hilly. The three big pictures go diagonally from the lop left to the bottom right. In the top right corner there is a small picture of Hilly with "Guide Dog Puppy #3" to the side of it. Also going diagonally along with the pictures is her name "Hilly".

Hilly's First Baseball Match

Ok, I actually don't know if this was Hilly's first baseball game but it was definitely was her first with me. I think she had a really fun time. Believe me she wasn't as bored as she looks in this picture. She really was very, very good and very entertained.See, she watched the game.

Now, every Friday there is a Firework display after the game. If I take my puppies to a Friday game I always make sure to drive myself so that we can leave before fireworks. But for some reason I can't ever remember that during the Star Spangled Banner there are three little fireworks that go off during "...and the rockets red glare!" They just shoot into the air with one bang and no glitter (I suppose that's why I never remember them). Luckily for me I've had such wonderful pups that handle them with maturity and grace. Hilly was laying down sleeping before, during, and after the the Star Spangled Banner (or, maybe it's the fact that I've had such confident puppies that I don't remember them).

She slept through almost the whole thing. She worked like a pro when we were walking around near all the food. Her work was so good in fact that no less than four people thought I was blind. This really was our first big outing together as a Puppy Raising Team and she impressed me so much. I loved her already and have been pleased with her work, but Friday night she blew me away. During her eval with Jim I told him that I think she would be a good guide and that night she completely proved it to me.

Now...to get over her dog thing....

Hilly was very interested in this fly that kept bugging around us...she ate him.

I had to continue to tell her that she was far too young to have a sip of my dad's beer.

Fun Day Preparations

Yesterday Rocco and I had a pretty busy day preparing for Fun Day. Since we're leaving early this afternoon we wanted to make sure that everything was prepared the day before. This included taking Rocco to his first Full Service Car Wash. He's been to the outside car wash but he's never gone with me to get the inside of my car cleaned...mostly because I've never had the inside of my car cleaned. But I thought it was about time that I did because there was dog kibble in between the seats and some dried beans from our group's Fun Day last May. That, and I have black seats and it was like a sea of white dog fur in the back. So, we sat there watching them struggle to get the fur all out and Rocco had his goughnut to keep him occupied. Well, he likes to throw his toys and his toys and he accidentally shot it out into the area where the cars were being cleaned. Luckily a nice, young man (I'm wondering if Rocco did this on purpose to give me a fighting chase at flirting with him, he's a great conversation starter and he always seems to be naughty just when there's an attractive guy that I would like to talk to walking around) reached under the car he was working on and got it for him. As soon as our car was finished I threw a blanket in the back seat so now Jude (that's my car) is protected from the worst of dog fur.

Besides that I had a hair appointment. Rocco loves my hair Salon mostly because everyone in the salon loves my puppies. Freya would get all excited when she saw that we were heading to Salon D because she knew that the rules were out the window and she would greet my hair stylist and flop to the ground for a belly rub. My hair stylist even said that my puppies could come in without their jackets some time. I haven't done that yet because I want them to behave which I'm sure they wouldn't as some one started to pet them if their jacket was off.

Then he came with me to pick up the pictures for Meghan and Maddie. They look amazing guys! I also picked up my own pictures that I had ordered before my contest. :) I love the one of Rocco.

That was pretty much out day, but of course, no day is complete without baseball. So we went to a game last night.

Can you guess where are seats were?
That's right! Front row!
You know you're jealous.

It was a pretty slow game, but that really didn't matter to me because we were literally right in front of the players as they warmed up. They were so close I could have touched them. So imagine this. Nice looking, athletic, muscular young men stretching and running right in front of me. Was I happy? You bet you're boots I was! That, and there were a few times John Bowker was less than a foot away from me. It was a good night. And Rocco was quite the trooper. We ended up going into over time at 10:00 and he hadn't had his dinner yet. So I made the decision to leave after the 9th. But we won! 2-1! YAY GRIZZLES!
Today, before I head off to yoga class, I'm going to give him a short, simple bath just to get the night's grime off of him. I want him to be extra pretty for Fun Day. Then when I get back I'm going to load up the car and head out. Hope to see you guys there!
